<p>吳梅嵩校長留學英國倫敦大學斯雷美術學院研究所，學成返國後積極參與高雄現代藝術的推動，及加入高雄市現代畫學會並擔任理事長(第七屆理事長)，並曾參與藝術雜誌編撰，藉由藝術雜誌發表藝術文章，促進推動高雄現代藝術觀念的成長。而其個人亦積極投入現代藝術創作，以具多種面向創作形式，包括平面、立體、裝置等，活躍於高雄藝壇，為高雄藝壇重要藝術家之一。</p>

<p>2001年起擔任中華藝術學校藝術創意總監及美術科主任，強調以創意引領專業藝術發展，2003年接任校長職務，積極投入藝術教育的耕耘，秉持著「創意不離手、藝術帶著走」的理念，展現在藝術教育方面銳利擘劃的視野及眼光，並以此帶領學校在2014年榮獲教育部第一屆藝術教育貢獻獎(績優學校)。他將校園當成自己最大的畫布進行創作，歷經二十餘年的時光，將學校打造成為一件頗具代表性的作品，而各項優異的成績，正是符應他這一生所追求藝術創作理念的具體實踐。</p>

<p>負責這次策展的高雄師範大學美術系助理教授蔡文汀說，「遠山行旅」乃擷取高美館所典藏吳梅嵩校長《旅行紀念品-大峽谷與遠山》作品中所寫的「遠山」二個字，而「行旅」則來自於吳校長曾以「旅行」作為創作主題，並予以倒裝為「行旅」。展題寓意其長年於藝術創作及藝術教育之際的旅行，「遠山行旅」作為一位藝術創作者暨藝術教育旅行者的一生目標而言，他深深體認自己有著推動藝術創作與教育的責任，更顯現出他的高瞻遠矚的宏大見識與胸懷。</p>

<p>呂惠美董事長說，吳梅嵩校長當年得知中華藝校歷經土地被切割、分離、覬覦膠著的境遇，認同董事會「教育價值大於土地價格」的辦學精神，毅然以藝術家的一己之力身分，承接校長的重責大任。他相信人文藝術能改變生命，並願意在制度中守住理想，他常說在華藝的教育生涯，讓自己找到人生最重要的價值。董事會為他辦理這場創作紀念展，是感恩、感謝他為中等藝術教育的披荊斬棘，更回應他對藝術教育的堅毅、守護、維持、存續的精神，更希望他所傾注心力的創作，能再次被看見。</p>

<p>吳梅嵩校長的作品富有深厚的文學性及詩學，在2022年《抽象高雄》展覽時，曾展出《旅行紀念品－大峽谷與遠山》這件作品，當時有小孩問說，為什麼作品上面要開兩個窗戶，他回答說，那是小小的櫥櫃，裏面放著「光陰」，由此可見他相當富有詩意。從藝術家轉換為教育家，他的作品背後是一段段生命行旅的累積，從國外求學到返台參與南台灣前衛藝術推廣活動，再到中華藝校服務，就如他曾所述「不論是一片舊牆，或是一塊仍殘留粉筆書寫痕跡的黑板，有時也會突然出現一些人為的塗鴉，這些記號，常令人想起當日時光種種，深深烙印在與他一起同行的時空記憶中。」</p>

<p>展覽自即日起至115年1月6日在高雄市文化中心至真二館展出。開放時間為週二至週四、週日上午10時30分至下午17時30分，週五、週六延長至20時，週一休館。</p>
